#32 - Time for Everything

I'm recalling the Camp fire, and this yet unpublished song I wrote right afterward.  I'd been hearing inspiring stories of people's kindness to one another, helping one another during the emergency.  Then, and now, I felt like we're all in an emergency, all the time.  So, in essence, it's "time for everything."

Time to pull out any stops you can and be kind to one another. Time to come together and heal our country, change for our world.  If you've been paying attention, you know that we've been needing to do this for a long time. But the last few years in this country have gotten much worse. You wonder, how bad do things have to get?

So, while this is not a brand new work, I wanted to share it, as I feel that it's a "timely" piece.  The lyrics are on this page, below the video.

Wishing you strength, kindness and care.

There's two kinds of time I know, the kind you have and the kind you don't.

We've got lots of hot potatoes we just pass on down the line.

And like a wildfire at our back, this country's starting to crack

We've got to reach out our hands and wrap our arms around it, take the time

Time for everything, time for everything, time for everything, but everything takes time

Jose came here from Mexico, he earned a taco truck and that taquero

brought loaves and fishes east of Chico, to our deadliest fire

He drove into evacuation camps, looked around at the faces and he said

"Fire up the the grill, tear up the bill, we're gonna feed them all in time,"

Time for everything, time for everything, time for everything, but everything takes time

Time for everything, time for everything, time for everything, but everything takes time

There was a garbage man named Dane, and he was working when the fire came

His boss said "Man, we see flames, come back, you ain't got time"

"But I got old folks on my route, I gotta make sure they got out,"

He sees Margaret on her porch and says "We're going for a ride"

Time for everything, time for everything, time for everything, but everything takes time

Time for everything, time for everything, time for everything, but everything takes time

It's time America, it's time America, it's time America

It's time America, it's time America, it's time America

Time for everything

Timely yes. Something good for a time that is uniquely challenging in this land, and the world. It's those small acts of kindnesses that are possible, no matter what the magnitude of what we face, and it is those that perhaps matter the most. Thanks, it was nice to hear this again.
